I Remember...

The quintessential Russian or Ukrainian babushka (grandmother), bundled in her kurtka (coat) against the snow and wind. I tried to capture the essence of at least three babushkas I could find that had that "look" of stolid Slavic endurance on google, and incorporated facial elements of all three in an attempt to create "The Babushka" you see here. No matter how old, one looks at these old ladies in Russia, who lived through the soviet era, many as teens in WWII, and you know that if necessary, they would be the type who waddled purposely up to an apartment window with an old Mosin Nagant, took aim, shot an invader, and waddled off chuckling. Such stout hearted women are hard to find anymore. I hope you enjoy.
